Happy Snowy Weekend, everyone!!
Although slushy parking lots, treacherous drives to work, and frigid temperatures are no fun, it never feels like the holidays until everything is covered in that white stuff! Im so thankful that not only did we get to have a VERY white Christmas, but that its also sticking around. There is not much better than to stare out the window on a lazy Saturday morning, looking at snowflakes lazily fall to the ground. Hope you can enjoy this snowy season as much as we are!!

More with chalk
I knew I had scored it big when I ran across this $3.00 _____ {insert name of ugly object here}.
Whatever you call it, it left MUCH to be desired. By much, I mean chalk, of course. Luckily, the frame was already painted the distressed antique white I would have chosen myself, so after about 30 minutes of scouring those ugly pepto-bismal textured roses off with my high grit sanding paper, I was ready to get started. I painted chalk-paint right over my newly smooth oil-painted surface. JUST in time for Christmas. This is currently the only Christmas decoration in my house....I know, I know, put down your weapons...I feel like I got it all out of my system with Rejoice decorating, and now Im trying to find it again to do my own house.

Rejoice Christmas!
It has been super fun being part of the decoracting committee for our church's Christmas dinner. For this year's Rejoice, the theme was rustic, with a palette of neutral canvas and burlap. We upcycled some old ornaments in literally ALL sizes with scraps of burlap and canvas for the Christmas trees.
You'd think that decorating the gym at the YMCA would be no easy feat, but the ladies, with the help of several husband helpers, got this pulled off in no time flat! Everything turned out so beautiful, and my itch to create a "rustic Christmas" has been officially quenched!
For as beautiful as the night was, the most beautiful part was to see and hear so many woman completely humbled, and openly sharing what the Lord has done in their life. It makes me more thankful than ever to know the love of My Savior!
Then there was Thanksgiving!
This year for Thanksgiving, we kept most of last years decor packed and went with a more natural, "woodland" theme of varying textures and textiles (Emily, that was for you :)). Felt, burlap, canvas, even sequins made the cut. The best part: most of the items we used were purchased at 70% off + sales before Thanksgiving!
It was fun to decorate the upstairs living room, with the new mantle installed. We also added a white trunk to the corner of the room to store blankets, hide cords, and hold some recently thrifted finds.
This was also the 2nd year that we hosted Thanksgiving! We were, sadly, missing a few of our main wing{wo}men, but we were still SO thankful at all of our family who were able to attend.
The food was DELISH. On the menu was:
Grandma Martha's oatmeal rolls
Grammy's sweet potatoes and fruit salad
Mom-in-law's sweet potato souffle
{you really cant have too many sweet potatoes in this family}
Mom's green bean casserole and Corny Mac'n'cheese
Chelsey's (180) deviled eggs {next year, Chels, you're in charge of napkins or something fool-proof}
My mushroom and sage dressing, & garlicky red mashed potatoes
For appetizers, we did:
Buffalo wing cheese and crackers
Cilantro lime dip
Parmesan pepper dip
Pepperjack salami
& Ginger snaps
After dinner, we packed into the car and headed out for a little Black Friday shopping. Husband's mission was allll TV.....Wife's was sparkly slippers.
Both missions: Accomplished!!
Stay tuned for a post in the very near future on creatively concealing wiring/cords, and the 1000 electrical boxes it seems to take to power internet and satellite. I've been pinning like a mad-woman!
*sigh*
