This weekend’s update comes as a bittersweet one. It was with heavy hearts that we decided to rehome Bear. We had been having increasing territorial issues with the dogs and think that Bear was just too old at the time we introduced him into our home. It was a poor decision on our part and we’ll just have to chalk this up as a learning experience. Thankfully, we found Bear an AMAZING new owner who will be able to provide him with just as much love and affection as we had.
On a positive note, this weekend did give us a chance to, once again, get a lot accomplished. Chelle finished painting the washer and dryer pedestal and all that’s left is to paint and attach the letters and wall decal.
Chelle was also able to complete two rooms of the house in their entirety (ish). One of those is our bedroom, minus the headboard Chelle is making out of an old farmhouse door. We'll wait to upload pictures of the entire room until the headboard is up, but here is a peek at the latest wall addition Chelle completed.
The photo of the Birch trees is an original piece of artwork from Kevin’s sister, Amy. She is an extremely talented artist, finishing up her Arts degree at the U of I, soon to be attending grad school. Chelle had her eye on this piece for quite some time, and when Amy gave it to us for Christmas 2010, (before we even found or moved into the house, mind you), Chelle could not WAIT to get this up. We are so pleased that now that it has found its home. You may recognize the shadow box which was a DIY from this post, and the shelf was a craigslist find that was spray painted black. Its unpainted twin is in our master bath, which you’ll see in a future post. The black and white vase with mustard yellow stems at the left of the picture was Chelle’s only splurge in this picture, which is from Homemakers. The white ornate mirror is a clearance find from Hobby Lobby. It came as a pair; the other one hangs on the other side of the armoire mirror.
We cant wait to get the headboard finished and show you the entire room, complete!
